Is the Market Indicating a Republican Victory?

Financial Expert and Nationally Syndicated Host Dan Celia Says Donald Trump Must Keep Hammering Economic Issues

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—In mid-August, CNBC informed readers that market behavior from Aug. 1 to Oct. 31 has an 83 percent success rate in calling a presidential election.

“In fact, since 1944 the behavior of the S&P 500 has been an excellent indicator of who will win the White House,” CNBC reported. A rising market indicates that the incumbent party will take the race. On Aug. 12, at the time of the article, CNBC reported that the market trends were favoring Hillary Clinton.

But now that September has rolled around, things are changing. The markets have taken somewhat of a dip—just over a 2 percent drop from Sept. 1-13, so if history is any indication, the pendulum may be swinging Donald Trump’s direction.

“The markets indicate financial uncertainty—among other things,” said financial expert and nationally syndicated host Dan Celia. “The volatile market environment we’re currently in sways daily with political uncertainly as well. Over the past two weeks, we’ve seen a drop—and probably can expect to see lower numbers to come.”

Celia, who leads Financial Issues Stewardship Ministries (FISM, www.financialissues.organd hosts “Financial Issues” daily on more than 600 radio stations, says the Trump campaign must continue hammering home issues of jobs and the economy. Response was relatively favorable, for example, to his plan for tax breaks for American families who spend part of their income on child care.

“The election, over these next several weeks, has to be centered on jobs and the economy” said Celia on a recent ‘Financial Issues’ show. “If Donald Trump is asked a question about the weather, his answer has to be about jobs and the economy. If he is asked a question about Vladimir Putin or the nuclear deal with Iran, his answer has to be about jobs and the economy. We’ve got one chance at leaving or creating or rebuilding an America for our grandchildren and children that we might recognize.”
